Description
TOWN CRAFT
Representing “JC PENNEY,” along with BIC MAC and PAY-DAY, a store brand that has been developed since 1927. Drawing inspiration from vintage clothing from the 50s to the 70s, it offers more comfortable and wearable garments.
Functional fabric for year-round wear
The fabric used is “Nylon Cotton Weather,” a functional material that was a mainstay in the outdoor scene of the 70s. Cotton expands by absorbing moisture, filling the weave to enhance waterproofing.
With a moderate thickness, it doesn’t feel stiff like 100% cotton and is more resistant to friction than 100% nylon. Its texture also improves with wear.
By intentionally omitting the use of padding, it’s crafted into a lightweight outerwear piece suitable for cool springs and autumn.
A classic jacket revived for the modern era
The Derby Jacket was released in the 1960s and was beloved by skaters, punks, rockers, and other hardcore scene enthusiasts in the 80s, particularly on the US West Coast. It became known as the “Derby Jacket” because it was produced by “Derby of San Francisco.”
Detail-oriented design
Features a ribbed collar of moderate height. The brand tag is a reproduction of a design from the 60s.
The switch pattern of the cup-in shoulder, a characteristic of the Derby Jacket, is adjusted to create a sleek line.
The front zipper is made by IDEAL USA. The leather puller and buttons on the top and hem add a nice touch.
The ribbed cuffs feature a ribbed pattern that transitions from wide to narrow pitch. All rib parts are created using dedicated knitting machines, showcasing meticulous attention to detail.
A loose fit updated for modernity
Based on XL sizing from the time, the sleeve length and body length are adjusted to achieve a well-balanced box silhouette. Its versatility, not requiring specific inner layers, adds to its appeal. Enjoy it with various outfits.
