The denim line of “THE UNION”. The brand was established in 2009 by Kohei Makita, who launched the brand “MOTIVE” that dominated the street scene in the heyday of Uraharajuku, and moved his base to Osaka.It aims to create a denim brand that remains unchanged and can be worn for a long time, focusing on classics.

Rigid denim with a focus on cotton
The fabric uses 13oz selvage denim woven with Zimbabwe cotton yarn on a power loom. Since this item is rigid denim, it will develop its unique denim over time depending on how it’s worn and washed.

※ Please note that shrinkage may occur during washing due to the rigid (unwashed) nature.

All threads used in sewing are cotton threads, allowing you to enjoy the color fading of the threads over time.

Additionally, by using vintage sewing machines called black machines, it prevents thread breakage, a weakness of cotton threads, by creating a moderate looseness in the thread tension.

A jacket that supported America’s golden age
In the 1950s, following the end of World War II, the United States experienced an unprecedented boom. Levi’s, freed from wartime material controls, undertook a model change for the G-Jacket. Thus, the “Lot.507XX,” commonly known as “2nd,” was born in 1952.

While this model follows the “2nd,” it is reproduced with the brand’s unique interpretation.

Detail-oriented details inspired by the 2nd
Front pleats provide a three-dimensional roominess around the chest for easy movement.

A leather patch is used on the neckline, and tack buttons are used on the buttons. Both are original designs of the brand.

Layout of symmetrical flap pockets. The original design is inspired by the tip of a sword.

The hem features a side adjuster with tack buttons, allowing you to adjust the fit of the waist while wearing it.

Attention is also paid to the selvage. This detail, which eliminates fraying at the end of the fabric when weaving denim fabric on old looms, is popular among denim enthusiasts as a detail of jeans from the good old days.

The split back, which was adopted for vintage large sizes (46 inches and above).

Since denim looms at the time had a limit on fabric width, jackets in large sizes were made with two back pieces. Imagining the initial T of “THE,” this model is adopted in all sizes, representing the brand.

The silhouette has a generous amount of back tucks, giving it a moderate loose fit. It pairs well with trend-like styles with wide pants or clean styles with slim pants.
